About Training Technician

  Summary About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W1E8AA USA INTELLIGENCE CTR OF EXCELLENCE. Serve as a Training Technician under the general supervision of Registrar, Academic Plans and Programming, G3/5/7. Responsibilities Perform technical and administrative training support duties involved in academic records management, scheduling, and quality assurance; forecast student inbound and outbound populations; track Soldiers inactive training time. Interact with installation Registrars including Fort Huachuca, AZ, Defense language Institute and Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) in Monterey, CA, the Army Training Centers, and the Department of the Army Personnel Accessions managers. Produce statistical data analysis for use with multiple courses. Serve as primary contact for student accounting and registrar issues and assist in rendering authoritative decisions or resolving problems, issues, and concerns. Conduct in-processing for course enrollment and performs data entry in the Army Training Requirements and Resources system (ATRRS). Receive attrition (graduation/recycle/hold/dismissal) requests from course management/training Battalions and the Military Intelligence Noncommissioned Officer Academy (NCOA), and update ATRRS with proper coding for attrition type. Comply with Army, TRADOC, and USAICoE regulatory guidance for record-keeping, safeguarding, and accountability of student files and data. Prepare Certificates of Training and Diplomas for USAICoE and submit for signature. Coordinate with training course management to ensure accurate and timely student tracking in ATRRS. Attend meetings to provide input on approximately 70 courses with regard to student records and student training status. Conduct holdunder/holdover meetings with trainers to ensure ATRRS is updated correctly. Serve as an Action Officer for USAICoE attrition data entry as well as the TRADOC Holdover/Holdunder Report and the Department of the Army HitList report. Perform all required tracking actions to include coordination with trainers, updating ATRRS screens, and interfacing with HQ TRADOC. Maintain detailed records for student tracking resources/class fill rates. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work of this position. Specialized experience is defined as tracking, adjusting and maintaining student information within databases/automated systems (such as ATRRS, DTMS, EDAS) to reflect strength and/or personnel status; completing end of course documentation to include certificates and diplomas; and, compiling data and completing reports, graphs, databases and documents using the Microsoft Office Suite or similar automated platforms. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-06). Education can be substituted for experience; or, you may be able to qualify for this position based on a combination of education and experience. To qualify based on substitution of education for experience, you must have completed one year or more of graduate level education directly related to the position being filled (such as Education, Guidance Counseling, etc.). Or A combination of education and experience. Possession of some of the specialized experience identified above but less than one year; and have more than ½ year but less than one full year of graduate level education. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first ½ year (total graduate semester hours minus 9) by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application package in order to substantiate and verify this claim.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Education and Training Program Administration Manages and Organizes Information Technical Competence Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
