Summary About the Position: Serves as the tractor operator at Mark Twain Lake for the Environmental Stewardship section. Performs multiple tasks involving tractor operation, including mowing, seeding and brush clearing. Responsibilities Operates a field type tractor and attached or towed mower or cutter bar or similar type attachments. Maneuvers the tractor and equipment in confined areas such as between shrubs and trees and along fences and curbs. Performs adjustments and minor maintenance on equipment operated. Operates tractors and mowing equipment in a safe manner at the work site and while on public roads. Performs safety inspections of vehicles, tractors or attachments. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Tractor Operator without more than normal supervision. I can operate tractor equipment and perform common maintenance duties. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Must be able to lift and handle heavy equipment attachments. May also lift materials weighing up to 100 pounds on occasion. Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors and outdoors involving exposure to temperature extremes. Is exposed to noise, dust and dirt and possibility of bruises, cuts and scrapes.
