BSD E&E - Administration
About the Department
The Cobey Lab is a computational lab that studies the interplay ofimmunity and the population dynamics of respiratory viruses such asinfluenza and SARS-CoV-2. We explore how immune responses arise afterinfection and vaccination and shape viral epidemiology and evolution. Our aim is to use this information to improve vaccination strategies. Weare looking for quantitative Computational Research Scientists to workon multiple projects. Projects include (a) modeling the longitudinaldynamics of individual immune responses, (b) examining variability inindividuals\' responses, and (c) improving methods to measure vaccineeffectiveness. These projects involve close collaboration withepidemiologists, immunologists, ecologists, and evolutionary biologists, including through the NIH-funded Collaborative Influenza VaccineInnovation Consortium (CIVIC), the Centers for Excellence in InfluenzaResearch and Response (CEIRR), and other NIH-funded research projects. These positions offer substantial opportunities for intellectualcreativity, collaboration, and leadership. Remote, U.S.-based work is anoption. Salaries are competitive and based on experience. Potentialapplicants are encouraged to visit the lab\'s website and to contact Dr.Cobey with questions.
