Position Overview:
Hunt Electric, Inc. is seeking a full-time Technology Apprentice to join ourteam within the distributed antenna system (DAS), Technology, and DataComm Division. This position requires self-motivation and self-management of work with stronginterpersonal skills to meet with users in a face-to-face environment.
The Technology Apprentice position is an entry-level position for someonewilling to learn basic coaxial and structured cabling principles. Thisposition will report directly to an area Foreman or Project Foreman to produceon time and within budget while maintaining high levels of safety,quality, and craftsmanship. Project execution will be performed with avision to exceed client expectations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Install coaxial, UTP, and fiber-optic cables throughout new and existingbuildings.Install DAS, Small Cell, and wired and wireless network devices under thesupervision of the project foreman.Provide general installation assistance for wired, wireless, and DAS networks.Install equipment racks in telecom closets.Assist with orienting antennas and system components based on engineereddesign.Work on rooftops installing, replacing, and repairing antenna systems,cabling, and equipment.Perform maintenance & troubleshooting, under supervision.Assist with completing connectivity and quality testing for coaxial, UTP,and fiber-optic cables.Assist with troubleshooting and repairing issues identified by the quality andoperations teams.Use and maintain hand tools, specialty tools, and mechanical equipment.Learn and understand the hazards associated with construction equipment andworking on or near equipment.Follow instructions accurately and complete assigned course of action.Recognize safety hazards and perform duties in a safe manner.Communicate issues to the supervisor in a timely manner.Report to work on time.Occasional travel. 25% or less
Required Skills
Knowledge of general construction and the use of hand and some power toolsHigh School Diploma or EquivalentHave a desire to progress in Information Technology Systems Division (ITS)Clean background
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with General Labor/Construction LaborAbility to complete the work according to QC specificationsAbility to climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbsGreat customer service and communication skillsAbility to work in a Team Environment
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
Ability to work independently and be a self-starterExperience with Termination and splicing of fiber opticsExperience reading and understanding blueprints and schematic
