TITLE: Technical Supervisor, Molding
REPORTS TO: Technical Manager, Molding
SUPERVISES: 25-35
JOB CLASS : Exempt
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
This position works closely with production, maintenance, engineering and scheduling to identify priorities and effectively coordinate molding activities. Will lead and direct the Process Technicians on all shifts. This position also directs the activities of the Mold/Auxiliary Equipment Technician.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead employees and maintain results by coaching, counseling and developing leadership and accountability within the molding department
· Lead, delegate problem-solving events and promote critical thinking
· Resolves maintenance and process issues by active collaboration with operations, engineering and quality
· Lead, train and coach plant employees in lean manufacturing events. Practice and maintain continuous improvement initiatives by implementing cultural change
· Prioritizes planned production activities and projects
· Maintains staff by assisting in recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees
· Develop and recommend plans for improvement
· Plan, control, and administer employee relations and staffing requirements consistent with company policies, plans, and directives
· Assist in the control of budgets, department operating expenditures, productivity and capital equipment requests.
· Assure departmental employees adhere to safety standards and exhibit safe work behaviors
· Assure communication of policies, production performance, costs, and standards
· Directs processing activities, department initiatives, mold/material trials, equipment trials, Kaizen events, TPM requirements, SMED events, etc. to meet budget and time constraints
· Responsible for coordinating all Writing Instruments molding activities including PM’s, TPM’s, support of Kaizen events, equipment repairs, department initiatives and work orders. Ensures scheduled compliance of above
· Responsible for keeping running tab of machine histories, current conditions to be reported to morning production meeting, including daily pass down between shifts
· Accountable for technician’s 5S activities
· Responsible for all process, scrap, orange tag, work order, order change, sample request, etc. data is collected and distributed as directed
· Responsible for enforcing disciplinary action up to and including associate corrective actions
· Keeps updated track of workforce work-hours through the time and attendance system
· Schedules and coordinates all vacation and coverage
· Highly involved with assisting technical training manager in training and development of technical workforce
· Works with parts crib to strategize spend/budget controls from data analysis
· Assist and train molding employees on analysis and tracking of OEE. Make repair / process improvement recommendations based on data

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must be willing to learn company metrics and raise business acumen
· Understanding Lean, 5s and TPM
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must possess professional demeanor when communicating by e-mail, radio, telephone, meetings and personal
· Conflict management/composure
· Good planning and organizational skills
· Excellent problem-solving skills
· Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure

· Visual aptitude - must be able to see, with or without correction

· Ability to perform, standing consecutively throughout assigned shift
· Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during assigned shift
· 2 years leadership experience required
· 2-year technical degree or 5 years of equivalent experience in plastics processing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master Molder certification
2 years Process Tech experience strongly preferred
