Eaton’s AER Aerospace Group division is currently seeking a Technical Engineering Leader.
What you’ll do:
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
As a member of the Product Design Engineering Team, the Technical Leader is responsible for leading & supporting manufacturing team with design / manufacturing related issues for flanges/coupling and ducting product lines. The Lead Engineer is responsible for supporting the plant, engaging MRB leaders & Chief engineer for technical challenges with production issues. Technical leader is also responsible for single point of contact for all design engineering related issues & consolidating failure analysis, prototype coordination and follow up on various ongoing projects.
This position is responsible for leading the execution and deployment of robust Engineering processes and continuous improvement/efficiency initiatives across TJ plant in alignment with Aerospace and division standards.
The incumbent will plan and coordinate the activities of the Product and Development Group in relation to existing products and the manufacturing challenges of existing / new products under the guidance of the product engineering manager. The incumbent is a member of the plant leadership team and the main point of contact within the local engineering team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A. Represents Engineering at TJ for joints / clamps / coupling & ducting product portfolio, manages customer requirements, coordinates project related design and qualification tasks assigned to peers, COE’s and test labs.
B. Collaborates with the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Teams and suppliers to develop designs that will meet manufacturing capabilities.
C. Provides technical guidance to junior design & ME engineers. Document design processes/practices, check lists, lessons learned and experience data.
D. Conducts technical reviews with peers and Chief engineer and senior leadership.
E. Coordinates and distributes workload across the global team (US, India, Batam, COE)
F. Ensures development, implementation, and audit of complex inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions
G. Coordinates with plant leadership to prepare consolidated plant, customer, and product status information and action plans.
Qualifications:
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree and seven (7) years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and (10) years of experience in aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of flange/ clamps / couplings & ducting design manufacturing methods (in-house and sub-contracted), assembly equipment, testing and material science.
• Experience with Aerospace (or similar) new product development / new product launch
• 3D-CAD experience, Pro-E/CATIA preferred. Experience with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• The ability to lead teams without having direct supervision authority in a distributed environment, while maintaining organizational harmony and meeting scheduled deadlines.
• Working knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) (preferred), Six Sigma methodology, Failure Modes, and Effects Analysis (FMEA), tolerance allocation and lean manufacturing methods is preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of engineering design and product reliability concepts as to facilitate analysis of product line designs
• Detailed knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques – i.e., value stream mapping, one piece flow, etc.
• Detailed knowledge of Six Sigma concepts and tools as they relate to minimizing process / product variability – i.e., regression analysis, design of experiments, hypothesis testing, etc.
• Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e., thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Gage R & R, control charts, Pareto charts, etc.
• Proficiency in various software applications – i.e., Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, MS Office suite, Minitab, etc.
• Knowledge of product and end user application/specifications, including product testing requirements.
• Knowledge of manufacturing principles and technical specifications to support facilities competencies – i.e., metal cutting, tool design, hydroforming, welding, soldering, etc.
• Ability to direct and lead cross-functional process improvement teams.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
