GENERAL FUNCTION
This role supports the practice through manufacturing eyewear in accordance with Company standards.This position ensures speed and reliability of service and creates a safe, supportive work environment which encourages innovation and commitment. This role supports establishing the practice as the premier desitination for all vision needs within the community.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides unsurpassed patient service through ensuring the lab team utilizes the Quality Manufacturing Process (QMP) in the production of all eyewear.
Explores underlying reasons for recurring laboratory problems and strives to develop long-term solutions.
Manages special orders, following up within guidelines.
Delivers constructive feedback in a timely manner to all lab technicians. Confronts problem performers directly and without delay; discusses appropriate disciplinary action, with Practice Manager, when necessary and follows up to monitor progress.
Recruits and selects high caliber staff and provides training and development to produce the most qualified lab technicians.
Performs administrative duties to include lab statistics into the Point of Sale system as required.
Completes and files, in a timely manner, all necessary practice and lab paperwork thoroughly and accurately.
Strives to improve technical knowledge through the completion of the QMP and continually applies that knowledge in the production of all eyewear.
Is attentive to detail with all measurements, calculations, equipment settings and defective product.
Ensures all Company approved lab safety programs are implemented and maintained consistently per standards, creating a safe working environment for all team members and patients.
Ensures all lab technicians are trained on the safe use, storage and disposal of approved laboratory chemicals, including annual refresher training. Documents training certificates retained in personnel files. Ensures all newly hired team members receive chemical safety training as part of new hire orientation.
Communicates machine issues to the diagnostics team as needed and follows up to ensure proper maintenance and machine fixes.
Works weekends and evenings in support of the business needs (varies by location).
Adheres to attendance and daily time keeping requirements.
Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
Consistently maintains proper dress code.
Performs other functions as assigned by Practice Manager or as business needs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate or equivalent
2+ years management/supervisory experience
Proven ability to analyze store financial data and make recommendations regarding steps which can be implemented in the lab to improve profitability.
Thorough technical knowledge of lab processes and equipment.
Strong management and leadership skills
Strong communicator and listener
Strong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
Organizational skills
Problem solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in optical lab
Knowledge of optical theory
Pay Range: 21.83 - 36.55
Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
