Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Network Operations, the Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining enterprise client machines and standards and the necessary systems for this responsibility.
The Systems Administrator will use their technical knowledge and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve issues escalated from level 1 and 2 teams related security measures to protect computer systems, identity management, imaging and software deployment. They will also respond to phone and email requests for technical support from level one and two technicians located throughout the country. Our Systems Administrator audits, documents and drives the automation of Desktop processes for The Community Solution and it's college. This role will work hybrid 2-3 days onsite in the Chicago office.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide excellent customer service while responding to phone, email and walk-up requests from our students, staff, and faculty.
Use technical, analytical and communication skills to accurately identify client needs and provide solutions.
Log all appropriate activities in the tracking system in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
Meet problem resolution and issue management goals.
Identify critical customer and system issues and escalate to the appropriate person or group using established procedures.
Actively use and contribute to the knowledge base.
Mentors help desk staff and trains them in resolving Desktop\Software related issues, including but not limited to; Imaging, firmware, Office, and other Software Deployments.
Partners with affiliates and TCSES System Office teams to document and automate and streamline Desktop processes.
Deploy, manage, maintain security systems to protect the environment. These systems include but are not limited to firewalls, data encryption, anti-malware, and anti-virus.
Responsible for the day to day management and updating of software library, software deployment, image creation and deployment system.
Perform risk assessments and testing of data processing systems.
Investigate and help respond to security breaches and other cyber security incidents.
Remediate detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard.
Lead training events to educate employees on security best practices and standards.
Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly English.
Proficiency with a variety of Windows operating systems and software including Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 10, MS Office, Outlook and multiple browsers.
Proficiency with Macintosh OSX and software including but not limited to Safari and MS Office and Outlook for Macintosh
Proficiency with scripting languages, PowerShell Preferred.
Strong proficiency in Active Directory and 365 Administration specifically compliance, exchange management, eDiscovery
Understanding of patch management with the ability to deploy patches in a timely manner while understanding business impact.
Proficiency working Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to maintain and update images and a software library.
Previous experience in common coding languages a plus.
Knowledge of networking concepts and the ability to troubleshoot network printing and wireless client issues.
Good time management and communications skills.
Ability to work in and foster a collaborative team environment.
Ability to work flexible shifts, which may include evenings and/or weekends and peak periods including, but not limited to the beginning of each semester and service launch dates.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience required.Experience:
4-6 years of experience providing desktop support.
Experience working in Higher Education is preferred.
Certifications or Licensure:
MCSE or MCSA, or A+ certification preferred.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in Higher Education is preferredWorking Conditions:

Sitting for long periods working in front of a computer
Able to work off-shift schedules when needed
Travel when necessary
Working within close proximity of others
Compensation & Benefits
This opportunity is budgeted at $90,000 - 95,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
