Mission for this Position
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Environmental, Social & Governance and supporting the Sustainable Development team; the Sustainability Reporting Specialist plays a key role in promoting and implementing sustainability initiatives within Baffinland. The Specialist is responsible for sustainability reporting by organizing and compiling various reports, and for maintaining a database of stakeholder engagements used in reporting.
Main Accountabilities
Support corporate sustainability reporting by overseeing the collection of information across the organization to satisfy designated criteria and standards for public reporting, keep annual reporting process on schedule by maintaining checklists and trackers, organize kick-off meetings with corporate teams and vendors, and contribute to the development of reporting process improvements;
Track and implement the Sustainable Development Policy and Project Certificate commitments;
Manage stakeholder engagement software by managing user access, data dictionaries, site configuration, and by providing technical support to users, manage project development with vendor and provide support for the migration of data, as required.
Support the Company’s participation in technical conferences and industry associations by preparing reports, providing supporting data and developing materials for presentation;
Work cross-functionally and support the development of the Company’s sustainability initiatives and corporate sustainability related reporting;
Develop and implement strategies to improve the Company’s sustainability information disclosure and reporting by reviewing ESG reporting trends including benchmarking and research of peers and sustainability leaders;
Support the Company’s strategy to enhance its placement on sustainability indices, including ESG ratings providers;
Coordinate sustainability materiality assessment process by completing research, collecting information and documents, supporting development and collection of survey results, analyzing results and preparing information for disclosure;
Maintain up to date knowledge of technological developments, standards, methods, international best practices, and industry trends and benchmarks and make recommendations for continuous improvement related to sustainability management.

Main Qualifications
• Minimum five (5) years of related work experience in the environmental or sustainable development field, with an emphasis in reporting or publishing
• Experience in the mining sector is an asset
• Project management professional (PMP) designation is an asset
• Experience with StakeTracker or other stakeholder relations or customer relations management systems
• Experience working with sustainability principles, regulations, and industry standards
• Experience developing, managing and overseeing sustainability initiatives to reduce a company’s environmental impact, improve resource efficiency, and promote social responsibility
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Sustainability, Earth Sciences, Information Management or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred in Environmental, Sustainability, Earth Sciences, Information Management or related field is an asset
• Project Management Professional certification (PMP) is an asset
