KGSB Office of the Dean - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23009371) The Sustainability Engagement Manager, Decarbonize Middle America for the Center for Sustainable Business (CSB) creates, implements, and assists in program delivery relating to company decarbonization action plans. Serves as liaison between internal and external stakeholders regarding sustainability, policies and procedures, and communications and coordinates project communications across multiple channels. Tracks and reports metrics to document impact and improve the effectiveness of programs.The Manager will have primary responsibility for program curation for one Workstream summit per year as well individual contributor and supervision of individual programs within the Workstream.
The Manager reports to the Sustainability Assistant Director of the CSB. The Manager will work closely with external stakeholders including faculty, staff, and students within the university as well as varying stakeholder groups outside of the University focusing primarily on Small and Medium Businesses, Municipalities, Community Development organizations, and other non-business entities. The incumbent will also convene and facilitate multiple meetings on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis that gather information and create leads for the Center. In addition to ongoing High-level networking and lead generation like attending events, conferences, meetings, and network follow up, the Manager will manage a team of three to six Undergraduate Student Workers, four to ten Graduate Student Workers, and up to three staff on their respective projects. Beyond this, the Manager will focus on creating content and provide thought leadership around small and medium businesses and Appalachian decarbonization.
The incumbent must be able to work with some supervision, conduct themselves and represent the Center in a professional manner, work efficiently on multiple projects, manage multiple team members with different backgrounds, provide external support, grow the capacity of the Center, and maintain good rapport with university administrators, staff, faculty, students, and representatives or other domestic and international partner institutions. Occasional travel and weeknight-weekend hours may be required.The successful candidate will be familiar with sustainability resources, programs, and initiatives in higher education settings. The incumbent should have previous experience developing or co-leading trainings on sustainability initiatives in an educational setting. Must have prior experience working with student organizations; experience with student organizations that have a sustainability focus are strongly preferred. Experience in a university or professional setting is strongly preferred. A relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required. Superb writing skills are vital, as well as attention to detail, multitasking capabilities, and the ability to work in a dynamic work environment. Microsoft Office Suite, internet-based research, and web experience are required. Must be able to interact well with people at all levels.
