　　Responsibilities:

　　Ten (10) or more years of topographic, highway/roadway projects,construction staking experience preferredAdjust and operate surveying instruments such as prisms,theodolites, levels, GPS, and electronic distance-measuringequipmentFamiliar with KDOT or MoDOT survey data collection methods a plusExcellent written and verbal communication skills requiredEffectively communicate with onsite contractors, engineers, andproject owner representatives in the fieldOperate all survey equipment including: Total Station, GPS Datacollector (knowledge/experience operating Trimble Access is a plus)Collect information needed to carry out new surveys using sourcemaps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records, and otherrelevant informationAccurately reduce field notesMust be able to work scheduled hours. Travel and out of town stayswill be required; may work overtime especially during theconstruction seasonDelegate survey tasks to other crew members under his/her directsupervisionMay be required to clear vegetation, dig holes, and pound stakeswith hand toolsLearn and follow surveying methods and standards as required bystate and public agenciesPerform boundary, topographic, ALTA, as-built surveys, andconstruction stakingWill oversee field surveys to determine location of right-of-way andother boundariesEvaluate survey field notes, evidence, and informationRestore and upgrade land survey monuments to state and federalstandardsTrain individuals in the use of surveying equipment, proper surveymethods, and techniques for collecting dataOther duties as assignedQualifications

　　High School Diploma or equivalent degreeRegistered Professional Land Survey (R.P.L.S.) license a plusLand Survey In Training (L.S.I.T.) a plusDrivers license with clean driving recordUse of hand tools (hammer, machete, ax, chainsaw, etc.)Punctuality Proven record of punctual attendanceBasic knowledge of electronic devicesAttention to detailPerform duties in an outdoor environment in various field settings(rural, urban, highways)Ability to work outside in a variety of climate situations forextended periods of time. The terrain may be rough, steep, wet, orswampy.
