How You Will Fulfill Your Potential Responsibilities · Assist nursing staff with patient care in the surgical suite · Manages equipment and supplies in preparation and during surgical procedures o Assist in opening the sterile supplies in preparation for the surgical case o Assist in assuring that surgeon preferences are accessible and current; assist the RN in selecting equipment and supplies o Assure all equipment is functioning before use, removing any malfunctioning equipment from OR per hospital policy o Assist in assuring that emergency equipment and supplies are available at all times o Handle and count sponges, sharps and instruments o Handle and store sterile/unsterile supplies using established principles of aseptic technique Qualifications/Experience Education/Accredited Programs · License Practical Nurse (LPN) or completion of OR Technician Program required · Current certification of surgical technologist preferred Experience/Abilities · Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with other patient care staff, patients and physicians · Ability to work effectively with other nursing staff, patients, physicians, and members of other departments under the direction of an RN · Ability to recognize patient care problems, react appropriately in patient care emergencies and communicate pertinent information to the responsible RN · Ability to complete basic mathematical calculation · Dependable, alert and adaptable to change in situations · Exercises safe judgment in decision making Communities We Serve Located in the foothills of the beautiful Adirondack mountains, Glens Falls is conveniently located a short drive away from the capital region and Lake George.
