Please note: experience with surgical scheduling is required.
Position Overview: The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator, under the direct supervision of the Clinical Lead, is responsible for surgical scheduling for multiple surgeons. Ensures all parties involved in the surgical case have the appropriate information (patient, surgeon, MOC, anesthesia, etc). Frequent contact, coordination, and communication with all parties involved in surgical cases. Maximizes resources by eliminating gaps in OR schedule; makes recommendations/changes to fully utilize surgical time that will have a significant financial impact on surgical revenue. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Supervision: The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator will directly report to the Clinical Lead. All staff reports to the Practice Administrator.
General responsibilities:
Schedules surgeries in a timely fashion.
Proactively seeks to schedule/reschedule patients to efficiently utilize resources (e.g., backfill to cover cancellations or add urgent surgeries).
Coordinates/communicates with patient, surgeon, surgery centers, primary care providers, and specialist provider to ensure all pre-surgical testing requirements are met.
Relays information to patients regarding preparation for laboratory tests, examinations, and procedures.
Ensures all patient correspondence (consent, orders, history, and physical, etc.) is transmitted to correct areas in a timely manner to streamline patient processing.
Communicates and manages schedule changes and reports conflicts to surgery centers so equipment, supply requirements, and staffing can be adjusted.
Addresses questions about procedural coding, as well as obtaining pre-cert, prior auth, benefit questions.
Participates in the training of other schedulers.
Requirements:
Surgical scheduling experience is a requirement
Computer/technology savvy a requirement
Experience with insurance verification

Must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds.
