About Supervisory Financial Management Specialist

  Summary This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Atlanta, Caribbean, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, Louisville, New Jersey, Omaha, Rocky Mountain and Washington, D.C. Field Divisions. The position's primary purpose is to support the Business Operations Program (BOP) within the respective DEA Divisions. The incumbent will serve as the Financial and Procurement Unit (FPU) Chief and will be responsible for managing and overseeing execution of financial and procurement activities. The salary range for each duty location can be found on the OPM website at the following link: General Schedule (opm.gov) As a Supervisory Financial Specialist, your typical work assignments may include: Providing proactive management and oversight of FPU level BOPs activities and/or functions. Executing and implementing at the Division level, operating policies and procedures to support the financial and procurement goals and objectives. Appraising and evaluating the results of overall financial operations regularly and systematically report results to the Business Operations Chief. Collaborating and implementing future short and long-range budgetary plans to support the Divisions goals and objectives. Providing mentoring as a cornerstone to the career development program. You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrate your ability in: 1) Planning, managing, and executing the functions and activities of a financial program for an organization, including instructing others on financial management execution; 2) Providing expert advice and guidance on the interpretation of financial and budget laws, regulations, policies and procedures to leadership, customers, and subordinates; 3) Advising on contract policies and procedures; 4) Analyzing and assessing contract execution and managing the disposition of the budgeted funds; and, 5) Monitoring obligations and expenditures of an organization's program. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
