About the Team:

Illumio's new Machine Learning (ML) team embodies a culture of thought leadership, independence, and responsibility, holding a significant and highly visible role within our Engineering division. This dynamic team is tasked with developing state-of-the-art ML solutions for complex cybersecurity challenges. Working directly with the leadership team, the team shapes Illumio's strategic direction and reinforces our leadership in Zero Trust Segmentation. In a world facing some of the greatest cybersecurity threats in history, the impact of our ML team is profound and far-reaching. 

  We're looking for engineers who are ready to bring diverse perspectives, innovate relentlessly, and tackle challenging enterprise security issues head-on, leaving a significant mark in the cybersecurity landscape. 

  

About the Role:

As a Machine Learning Engineer with a focus on Gen AI, you will be building a pioneering product focused on solving cybersecurity issues faced by businesses of all scales. You will lead the design and build a zero-trust security advisor, a conversational interface to interact with security policies and traffic data. You will build LLMs for code generation and UI interactions, providing vital security insights to organizations about their infrastructure.  

  To excel in this role, you must possess competent knowledge of Gen AI tooling and fine-tuning pretrained models. You should have comprehensive experience in building 0->1 ML products, transition initial prototypes to production-ready large-scale machine learning models.  

  

Key Responsibilities:

Employ state-of-the-art LLM models to build the conversational interface for our customers to analyze, summarize information and interact with Illumio's UI/APIs 

  Perform fine-tuning of Local LLM models to improve the responses for users and handle complex queries 

  Devise and run experiments with NLP preprocessing and other techniques to improve the performance of models on accurate code generation 

  Collaborate with seasoned full-stack and cybersecurity engineers to deploy large-scale models to production 

  Proactively contribute to cultivating a new team and product domain, offering strategic impetus shaping the roadmap and vision for the product. 

  

Experience:

Bachelor's in computer science or equivalent degree. Master's degree a plus

  8+ years of relevant experience

  Proficiency in GPT/OpenAI API and prompt engineering 

  Experience with local LLM fine-tuning and wrapping machine learning models for successful deployment into APIs 

  Comprehensive grasp on Natural Language Processing techniques  

  Experience in implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAGs) to leverage structured and unstructured data 

  Hands-on model building with Hugging Face, LangChain or other production-ready frameworks

  Pay Range:

  $200,000 USD - $240,000 USD

  The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, or applicable laws.
