JOB DUTIES: Perform system management and integration functions focused on driving the development and implementation of cutting-edge features to the next-generation automotive sensing platforms. Design and develop solutions to complex application problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. Initiate the design, development, execution, and implementation of technology research projects. Coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts to generate and review software requirements and build up software architecture for various LiDAR-based software products. Design, develop, and implement lidar-based perception algorithms which run on onboard computers in autonomous vehicles. Contribute to the Perception Software, Simulation, LiDAR Firmware, LiDAR Drivers, and Safety Systems Engineering teams at Luminar. Plan, execute applied research, and evaluate new opportunities. Participate in the development of patent applications. Research the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products and analyze and configure the sensor calibration process to ensure the accuracy of data received. Design and implement metrics for measuring the accuracy and performance of autonomous driving machine learning models. REQUIREMENTS: Master s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field. 3 years of experience in job offered or related occupation. SKILLS: Must have: 1. Experience with computer vision, Embedded C, Python, C++, Verilog. 2. Experience with lab equipment (Oscilloscope, Waveform Generator, Programmable Power Supply). 3. Experience with MATLAB. 4. Experience with Xilinx Tools for hardware and software development environments (Vivado, Vitis, Petalinux). 5.
