Description

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in UTICA, New York. As a Staff Accountant, you will be handling a variety of accounting duties including the organization of billing, collection, deposit, disbursement, and record maintenance tasks. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Organize and manage all functions related to the billing and collection of student accounts

• Oversee the deposit and disbursement processes

• Maintain and update student records accurately

• Prepare journal entries and handle the accurate processing of accounts payable

• Manage cash receipt entries and reconcile various general ledger accounts

• Ensure compliance with federal cash management regulations and Title IV federal financial aid requirements

• Uphold all Federal and State regulations including FERPA and FDCPA

• Prepare necessary credit applications.

Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Proven experience in the role of an Accountant

• Proficiency in account reconciliation

• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Strong knowledge in financial reporting and taxation

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced skills in Excel

• Experience with accounting software, such as QuickBooks or Sage

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
