Services is seeking a hands-on Staff Accountant for our Accounting Department. This position is located in our administrative office in Berlin, NJ. The candidate that is offered the position will report to the Berlin, NJ office. This is not a remote position and employees must report on-site. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff accountant will p rovide support as needed to the Accounting Department. Use SAGE/Peachtree software to accurately record accounting information. Duties will vary and may increase in responsibility over time.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
· Maintains the general ledger.
· Complete monthly account analysis.
· Maintain fixed assets schedule and prepare journal entries.
· Act as back up for bi-weekly payroll processing.
· Prepare and upload payroll journal entries.
· Act as Back up coding invoices for processing.
· Reconcile balance sheet accounts and close the monthly books.
· Make transfer to Individuals’ accounts as required.
· Track Social Security payments, rent and contribution to care.
· Control and reconcile corporate credit cards, gas cards and food cards.
· Create and book invoices to Individuals for rents, cable etc.
· Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
· Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
· Fully learn and document the medical billing function – serve as back up.
· Understand the A/P function and serve as a backup.
· Help create and institute best accounting practices, policies and procedures.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work with other departments and to enforce policies and procedures
· Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
· Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience is required for this position
Non-profit experience helpful but not required.
Strong MS Excel skills.
Experience or knowledge of processing payroll preferably with ADP/Workforce Now.
Knowledge of SAGE/Peachtree software helpf ul
