Description

　　SAIC is interested in hiring a Senior Software Engineer for one of our programs supporting the FDA. SAIC supports the FDA and its scientists and medical reviewers in Scientific Computing which includes, technical and research aspects of bioinformatics, scientific software support, AI/ML, DevOps and Big Data analytics. This position will support CBER in White Oak, MD.

　　This role is Hybrid and requires 1 day per week in office.

　　The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, developing and enhancing the epidemiological and medical models and software in AWS. The technology stack includes Java, Python and NoSql databases.

　　This software engineer will develop new scientific software features, collaborate with scientists and engineers, evaluate and document workflows and resolve software and scientific workflow related problems, suggesting enhancements to improve workflow performance as well as writing scripts for daily administration and supporting documentation to automate repeatable tasks. 

　　The candidate will also monitor software system configurations to ensure reliable operation, ease of use, and integration with scientific workflows in the enterprise environment. 

　　The Senior Software Engineer will create/maintain scientific software procedural and technical documentation.

　　Position requires either an active FDA Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain prior to start

　　Familiarity with clinical, medical or epidemiological data is a plus.

　　Qualifications

　　Required Education and Experience:

　　Master’s degree and 7+ years of work-related experience; 10 years of experience is highly preferred. A Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of work-related experience can be accepted.

　　Degree fields include software engineering, information systems, computer science, engineering, science, physics, math.

　　Must be eligible for a Public Trust under FDA regulations:

　　Must have resided in the in the United States for at least 3 out of the last 5 year

　　Required Qualifications:

　　Hands on experience with software programming in Java and Python

　　NoSQL database experience is required - MongoDB

　　Linux shell scripting experience

　　Experience working in AWS cloud

　　Desired Skills:

　　Independent worker with the ability to collaborate with and technical and nontechnical cross functional teams

　　Strong written and verbal communication

　　Experience working with the FDA or similar federal government entities highly desired.
