Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a Sr Program Coordinator SPVR for the Creating Connections digital equity program, a multi-faceted program designed to support the 1) expansion of equitable access to broadband, 2) increase workforce development opportunities for the innovation economy and 3) provide digital readiness and training skills at Rutgers-Newark and the City of Newark. Creating Connections is 100% funded by the Connecting Minority Communities (CMC) Program which is administered by the (NTIA) a unit within the US Department of Commerce. The Sr Program Coordinator SPVR reports directly to the Senior Vice Chancellor and CFO (SVC) and indirectly to Senior Program Director, Joseph C. Cornwall Center for Metropolitan Studies.This position's responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:
  • Leads and manages ongoing operations for Creating Connections which includes robust partnerships within units at Rutgers University - Newark and external community partners.
  • Manages the day-to-day coordination of the Creating Connections Program including internal and grant administration, reporting and logistics and coordination and collaboration with all internal and external partners
  • Interprets, communicates, and implements program policies and practices for meeting the goals and outcomes of Creating Connections which is designed to serve a dynamic and diverse set of stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, returning citizens, job seekers, and other community members
  • Research and benchmark best practices for the development of effective digital equity strategies and resolutions to support the program in addressing the complex digital equity problems and/or needs of the populations to be served

  Qualifications

  

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of administration
  • Also requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in an administrative function, excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite and use of databases

  • Experience in an administrative function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability in building and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Supervisory experience of other employees, such as graduate and undergraduate student workers, while providing leadership on all programmatic initiatives
  • Demonstrates a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently, while following the guidance of the SVC/CFO.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability in building and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Requires strategic vision, operational acumen, and budgetary skills, to provide leadership on activities ranging from faculty-related research activities to student-related career activities
  • Possesses a broad understanding of technology and broadband usage that would be particularly desirable given the technology-commerce space that is occupied by inclusive-innovation activities
  • Supervisory experience of other employees, such as graduate and undergraduate student workers, while providing leadership on all programmatic initiatives
  • Demonstrates a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently, while following the guidance of the Senior Vice Chancellor and CFO
