r Position SummaryThe University of Idahos Department of Art &Design seeks applications for a full-time tenure track AssistantProfessor in Visual Design. The Art and Design faculty member isexpected to teach according to the needs of the program and as directedby the Department Chair. The faculty member will conduct research in thefield of visual design; publish research in peer reviewed journals orcurate or exhibit in solo and/or group exhibitions regionally,nationally, and internationally; present findings at professionalconferences, and submit proposals to extramural agencies to fund thiswork. The faculty member is expected to participate in some outreachactivities as directed by their chair or dean. The faculty member isexpected to attend faculty meetings, and to participate in committees atthe department level and the college and/or university level.Description of Expectations
This faculty member is expected to teach a 2:3 load in Art and Designaccording to the needs of the department and as directed by thedepartment chair. The faculty member will conduct research in art anddesign and design outreach; publish such research in peer reviewedjournals or exhibit in solo and/or group exhibitions regionally,nationally, and internationally; present findings at professionalconferences, and submit proposals to extramural agencies to fund thiswork. The faculty member is expected to attend faculty meetings, and toparticipate incommittees at the department level and the college oruniversity level. In addition, this faculty member will serve inregional and national extramural organizations.
rrMinimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Masters of Fine Arts or related degree in anArt or Design discipline or a PhD in a related field or equivalentterminal degree.Evidence of a scholarly/exhibition.Experience teaching both designers and studio artists.Evidence of a studio practice/portfolio.rrPreferred Qualifications:

Teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.Established professional collaborations.MFA in Communication Design or closely related terminal degree.Demonstrated experience equivalent to 2 years fulltime teachingbeyond graduate teaching at the university-level.Work collaboratively with faculty in other disciplines.Knowledge of current contemporary design practices.Knowledge of current technology trends in the creative disciplinesincluding computer hardware, software, and other relevant designtools.rrPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:
