  Responsibilities

  The Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) at the University of Rochester is seeking a Sr Materials Management Specialist to join the Administrative Division.

  The Sr Materials Management Specilist plays a vital role in ensuring LLE’s compliance and managing its assets and inventory. They contribute to cost control, risk management, and overall operational efficiency. LLE has multiple Federal and State funding sources. Government property and asset management, particularly in the context of reporting, is subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). These regulations provide specific requirements for the acquisition, management, and reporting of government property. Compliance with these reporting requirements is crucial for ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficient management of Government-owned assets.

  Responsibilities:

  The Facility Asset Manager is responsible for effectively managing the organization's fixed assets to ensure compliance, track inventory, maintain records, implement control procedures, and streamline processes.

  Asset Tracking: Maintain a comprehensive and accurate record of all fixed assets including inventory location tracking. Conduct annual property audits.

  Asset Storage: Manage an onsite vault used for short term storage (<6 months) and an offsite location for longer term storage (>6 months).

  Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in fixed asset and inventory management.

  Training: Provide guidance/training on Property Control requirements to LLE personnel who utilize Government owned property.

  Asset Disposal: Manage the disposal of obsolete, surplus, non-functioning, or no longer useful assets through sale, donation, or scrappage, following legal and regulatory requirements.

  Qualifications:

  Required

  Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience in fixed asset management, inventory control, or supply chain management, or equivalent.

  Experience acquiring, managing, and reporting of Government Property subject to FAR 52.245 and DFARS 252.245 requirements.

  Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  Proficiency in financial and inventory management software and tools.

  Knowledge of relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry best practices.

  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  Desired

  Experience with Workday Business Assets

  National Property Management Association (NPMA) membership and certification.

  Pay Range

  Pay Range: $62,200 - $93,300 Annually

  The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
