Job Description
The primary responsibility of the catalyst R&D and Scale Up Director is the design and coordination of programs to deliver technical solutions which provide a basis for competitive advantage for both sustaining and growth strategies contributing to the value generation of the ATJ catalyst platform.
As the Scale Up R&D Leader, you will develop and manage a project portfolio to scale up current catalyst portfolio production that is aligned with company growth plans. You will also work with process development and technology partners to develop the next generation of catalysts that continue to improve the company’s competitive position. You will champion the current catalyst portfolio and identify new directions to accelerate strategic business objectives
Responsibilities
Lead activities for the discovery and scale-up of catalysts for ethanol dehydration, oligomerization, and hydrogenation catalysts
Learn, identify, and apply knowledge of key business drivers and the factors that maximize company performance to identify, champion, and charter projects in support of strategic objectives.
Develop robust value propositions in support of technical priorities and projects.
Ensure continuing alignment of project portfolio with business priorities through updating progress and tactical changes and establishing meaningful milestones with commercial impact
Oversee implementation and delivery of projects, ensuring delivery against project milestones and objectives, and ensuring the use of sound scientific methods, and excellent project documentation and communication.
Identify talent, be accountable for attraction and retention within the department, and creates a high-performing team focused on innovation and delivery against research goals.
Provide supervision and leadership for a future small size group of research employees who have diverse backgrounds and research experience
Lead a strategy for developing the process design, manufacturing, and installation of a pilot plant in support of the project pipelines.
Ensure a reliable and consistent catalyst supply by proactively supporting 3rd party catalyst-manufacturing improvements and the implementation of new catalyst technologies.
Provide timely customer technical support
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or science-related field is required; Ph.D. is preferred.
5+ years of relevant experience in catalyst research and development. Production scale-up knowledge is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous project leadership experience (>5 years)
Catalyst manufacturing
