About Sr. LNG Operations Engineer / San Diego, CA

  This Position is for a Sr. LNG Operations Engineer with work location in San Diego, CA.

  Primary Purpose

  The Sr. LNG Operations Engineer is responsible for providing operational and technical support during the conceptual development, design, construction, and operations of all project proposals for LNG and Net Zero Solutions. The incumbent will also provide ad-hoc support to operating facilities for which Sempra LNG has an investment interest. The incumbent maintains and assures the quality of documentation developed during the normal course of business, following quality assurance and control system procedures.  The position also performs engineering and other technical/operational analysis and prepares reports for developing projects, operating facilities, and corporate functions. Incumbent assures compliance with all policies and procedures required for safe, efficient, and reliable operation.  Incumbent is an active participant during technical and operational self-assessments, audits, and other studies of facilities in which Sempra LNG is an investor/owner.

  Duties and Responsibilities

  Performs analysis of adequacy of operating practices and facilities' design to support and improve safety, reliability, maintainability and operability of company's interest, support engineering development of projects, follow the CVP process on operations related topics, as necessary to achieve desired result.

  Develops/maintains/updates and assures quality of documentation to assure operations philosophies, best practices and standards are applied consistently through diverse businesses.

  Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, suppliers, and contractors. Provides the necessary support to assure the required operational and technical compliance matters are addressed in Sempra's interests.

  Participates in the regulatory and permitting preliminary work for new projects evaluation. Understands and performs analysis of governmental agencies requirements to support proposed new facilities or to support changes to existing facilities where that company has interest in.

  Supports audits of facilities where the company is self-operating or participating in partnerships, joint ventures to assure compliance.

  Monitors operations KPI's daily (where applicable) and provides feedback as necessary to maintain business operability and reliability to assure Sempra LNG's interests are being protected.

  Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

  Required Qualifications

  Chemical Engineering Degree (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, etc.) and/or a related field.

  6+ years of LNG operations, process engineering, and/or commissioning engineer.

  5+ years of Project management experience with a broad knowledge of budgeting, planning, scheduling, and services for related businesses.

  Knowledge of process engineering modelling tools (HYSYS or similar).

  Knowledge of operational/technical issues in; process engineering, process control, mechanical, codes and standards, process simulation, IT systems, communications systems, instrumentation, electrical, regulatory, project schedule, process and drafting.

  Communication skills to interface with other groups on technical matters including engineering and IT issues and providing technical analysis and reports to operational and management staff.

  Knowledge of health and safety requirements and regulations.

  HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 3 days per week onsite.
