  SUMMARY: Responsible for instructing secondary level students inappropriate subject areas in coordination with current curriculum and withinthe framework of District and state content standards.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully,an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT:Bachelor's degree with proper teaching licensure program required.Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements required.Experience instructing students in a classroom and virtualenvironment, teaching technology in a Standard Based environment with recordkeeping, grading, assessing and reporting preferred.CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.Administer, edit, proofread, and grade students' assignments andassessments.Participate in professional growth opportunities.English language skills.Math and accounting skills.

  PRODUCTIVE CITIZEN:Instruct students in large, small, and one-on-one situations.Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, andcolleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes.Collaborate with colleagues in team and building-based meetings anddiscussions.Participate in department, team, building, and district meetingsand discussions.Oral and written communication skills, bilingual oral and writtencommunication skills preferred.Ability to work supportively with other teachers, staff, andadministrators to provide an effective learning environment.Ability to communicate with students, parents/guardians, staff,and community members.Ability to be a part of and work with a team.Ability to maintain honesty and integrity in all aspects of the job.Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance requirements,including regular and punctual employee presence.Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.Ability and willingness to promote and follow Board of Educationpolicies, Superintendent policies, and building and department procedures.Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively andcooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.Criminal background check required for hire.

  AGENCY:Develop, plan, prepare, and implement:o Course content, format, structure, and schedule.o Individualized programs of instruction for students.o Classroom materials and curriculum.o Lesson plans and learning activities.Design assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understandingin a variety of ways and use the data to give meaningful feedback and modifyinstruction.Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, andmaintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotionalprogress and needs of students.Support all Garfield County School District 16 policies, procedures,and expectations.Interpersonal relations skills.Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities.Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.Operating knowledge of and experience with typicaleducational/instructional technology equipment and programs.

  PERSONAL WELLNESS:Create a classroom environment which maximizes instructionalopportunity, supervise the behavior and well-being of students in theclassroom and all educational settings, and administer discipline whenappropriCommunicate students' progress, and needs with parents/guardiansand other staff as needed.Demonstrate a commitment to o Understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity.o Include and engage families in the student's education.o Provide personal and professional excellence.Participate in student and/or family conferences and other meetings.Participate in social, cultural, interscholastic, andextracurricular activities.Report suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law.Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, followsafety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safetyequipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.The physical demands, work environment factors and mental functionsare representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfullyperform the essential functions of this job.
