Job Summary
As the Sous Chef at a prestigious fine dining establishment in midtown, your role entails overseeing the Culinary Department's smooth operation. Your responsibilities include supervising, preparing, and cooking a wide range of exquisite dishes, as well as collaborating with the Executive Chef to craft daily menu offerings and their presentation. Additionally, you may lead a team of hourly associates and play a pivotal role in menu development and procurement. This is a thrilling opportunity for a dynamic and enterprising culinary expert.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to manage cost controls and monitor expenditures effectively.
Contribute to menu planning and creative menu design.
Skillfully execute catering events, ensuring exceptional culinary experiences.
Introduce innovative culinary programs in coordination with the Company's marketing and culinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possession of an A.S. degree or equivalent culinary experience.
Demonstrated progressive experience in culinary and kitchen management, commensurate with formal education or training.
Prior experience in catering is a valuable asset.
Proficiency in managing high-volume, intricate foodservice operations is highly desirable.
Familiarity with institutional and batch cooking methods is advantageous.
In-depth knowledge of food and catering trends, emphasizing quality, production, hygiene, cost control, and presentation.
Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and internet usage.
Willingness to actively participate in client satisfaction initiatives.
ServSafe certification is highly beneficial.
