JOB REQUIREMENTS: Solar field vegetation management activities include,but are not limited to: the operation of commercial riding mowers,string trimmers, and herbicide spraying equipment among utility solararrays, along security fences, and in open areas. JobRequirements Work safely at all times Must be at least 18 years old Havea valid driver\'s license and reliable transportation ConversationalEnglish skills required Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs / pull75 lbs Perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods Workoutdoors in all weather conditions including extreme heat, rain, fullsun Work in difficult environmental conditions including rough terrain,wet ground, brambles, and insects Identify or learn native and invasiveprairie plants Use maps and aerial photos, and portable GPS units, todetermine location and work area boundaries Maintain awareness oflocation and compass directions at work sites Wear proper PPE asrequired for the job being performed at all times Identify job hazardsand be able to conduct safety briefings Obtain daily job requirementsfrom the Project Manager and communicate them to the crew Develop andcarry out a plan for completing tasks each day Adapt the job plan asnecessary in response to changes in job conditions or other factorsLead, support, and work alongside crew members as needed to completetasks Operate off-road vehicles including commercial riding mower, ATV,4-wheel drive truck Operate a truck with loaded trailer on roadwaysRecognize equipment maintenance and repair needs, resolve or communicateto Project Manager Specific Job Duties The Crew Leader will beresponsible for ensuring the safety of themselves and their crew at alltimes. They will foster teamwork, cooperation, and professionalism amongcrew members. They will communicate effectively with clients, thegeneral public, and other Quercus staff, and report issues as theyarise. The majority of their time will be spent performing vegetationmanagement tasks at solar field sites. We anticipate that their timewill be divided roughly as follows: 75% - Mowing and String TrimmingSafely operate commercial Wide-Area Mowers equipment among solar panelsand in open areas Perform string-trimming as needed around solarequipment and along fences (less than 5% total) 15% - HerbicideApplication Accurately apply herbicides via riding equipment or backpacksprayer to control invasive species Mix herbicide solutions to properconcentrations Dispense herbicide mixtures to application equipmentClean herbicide containers and application equipment Document amounts ofherbicides used 5% - Equipment Maintenance and Work Reporting Performbasic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Quercus equipmentTrack work progress, report issues, and concerns to the Project Manager5% - Meetings, Trainings, and Miscellaneous Tasks Participate as part ofthe Quercus staff as assigned by supervisors Operate vehicles or poweredequipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers,chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws. Prune ortrim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing,removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, orwalls. Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers. Care forartificial turf fields, periodically removing the turf and replacingcushioning pads or vacuuming and disinfecting the turf after use toprevent the growth of harmful bacteria.
