Job Title Software Engineer, Tools Position Summary The Software Tools Engineer will help select, deploy, customize, and support tools and processes to support the various development teams as well as the infrastructure needs of the software development organization. They will apply software engineering principles to the design, development and deployment of specific requested tools, and assist in creating code to support processes for such topics as: Configuration Management, automated builds, release notes, and development of custom tools. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Analyzes, evaluates, and plans methods for the solution of complex problems. Independently troubleshoots existing systems. • Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle, SCM practices along with Change, Software Build and Release Management methodologies • Experience with Continuous Integration using Jenkins, or similar tool • Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Docker, Ansible, Vagrant. • Setup and maintain internal build infrastructure. • Documents build system procedures and infrastructure. Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications • Demonstrate excellent skills in organization, team dynamics, clear and effective communication, and prioritization of tasks • Bachelor’s degree is preferred. • 4-5 years of work experience • Strong background in use of Linux operating systems and experience with general system administration tasks. • Experience with bug tracking systems such as Jira. • Design, implementation and support of software tools used by others. • Knowledge of cloud technologies like AWS or Azure a plus • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages - Perl, Python. Education and Experience • Bachelor’s and/ or master’s degree in Computer science/Information Technology or related fields • Overall experience of 4 to 6 years in a software tools engineer role Minimum Qualifications • Must be 18 years of age • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check Travel Requirements • Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time Physical Requirements and Work Environment • This is largely a sedentary role. • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. • May need to lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers or peripherals.
