The ideal candidate is a people manager with strong engineering background, experience building products from the ground up and balancing speed with accuracy. They have a deep understanding of building highly scalable and resilient systems. They lead the initiatives to continuously improve the platform by removing bottlenecks and inefficiencies, never settling if there are milliseconds that can be saved. They hire and develop their team mentoring engineers to improve their architecture, design, coding and people skills. They collaborate well with their own team, partner teams and stakeholders to deliver features. They are able to adapt and leverage project management methodologies to plan the roadmap and help the team execute effectively.A day in the lifeThe PVS Sports team delivers tools and external services that enable creation, validation, reconcilation, enrichment and publishing of live event metadata, which ultimately drives selection to our customers. As Prime Video Sports grows, this team will expand the breadth and depth of capabilities and tooling available to our partners. And the PVS Publishing team is core to that vision.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Seattle, WA, USA- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations- Experience partnering with product or program management teams- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineersOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
