The SBDC Director is a visionaryleader in the context of the regional economy. The position provides akey role in bringing about an integrated and cohesive array of servicesfor small- to mid-sized business owners. The University ofWisconsin-Parkside Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides awide range of business consulting and educational services for SoutheastWisconsin, with a focus on Racine and Kenosha counties, while accessingthe resources of the statewide UW System. The primary purpose of theSBDC is to provide counseling services and educational programming tosmall business owners, managers, and prospective entrepreneurs. TheUW-Parkside SBDC is one of 11 SBDCs throughout Wisconsin funded in partby the U.S. Small Business Association. The UW-System Institute forBusiness and Entrepreneurship oversees the state network.RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct services: Supervise all services to smallbusiness owners, managers, and prospective entrepreneurs, includingcounseling and training seminars. Provide direct counseling services toclients, primarily in Racine and Kenosha. Support regional counseling toclients as needed. Supervise all SBDC counseling functions, ensuringhigh quality services and measurable outcomes. Supervise all SBDCtraining and professional development services; plan, promote and teachseminars as needed. Plan for new and established market-driven educationprograms that generate net program revenue. Recruit and supervisecounselors and trainers to enrich the base of technical expertise andmaintain the capacity of counseling services. Maintain a statewidenetwork of service providers and expert trainers to enhance the outcomesfor clients. Invest in professional development to ensure technicalassistance and quality of education is accurate and resources arecurrent. Ensure compliance with WSBDC grant requirements for accuraterecords management. Administration: The SBDC Program Manager isresponsible for the overall planning, administration, coordination, andevaluation of the services to business and industry in a two-countyservice area. Develop strategic plans with the staff and ensurealignment with campus, college, WSBDC, and SBA goals. Recruit andsupervise employees and ensure a productive and supportive workenvironment. Plan and execute balanced budgets consistent with campusrequirements and WSBDC grant requirements, including quarterly financialreports. Prepare and submit in a timely manner all administrativereports required by SBDC Administrative Unit and UWP, as well asrequested reports on activity, strategic planning and analysis. Developand implement SBDC marketing strategies, including stakeholdercommunications, reports, slide presentations, newsletters, web site, andbrochures. Serve as a primary liaison with the SBDC State AdministrativeOffice in Madison. Supervise contract training and research projects.Economic Development: Provide leadership in regional initiatives,maintaining collaborative working relationships with business andeconomic development organizations throughout the two-county Region onbehalf of the SBDC, the College and the University.
