Role & Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Program Manager who has a proven track record through multiple product cycles in a design and manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for leading the integration and delivery of new Surface Products. You will work with the multiple Surface teams and external partners to define, design, integrate, optimize, deploy, and monitor new and innovative Surface Products. As a cross-functional leader, you will define requirements, develop and drive schedules, coordinate dependencies, and drive factory readiness, and volume ramp activities. The successful candidate will have SW or FW development and HW/SW integration experience. In addition, he or she will extensive work experience with high volume device manufacturing and working with external partners in different time zones. Additionally, the candidate will leverage effective communication and cross-organizational technical program management skills to thrive in a highly innovative, evolving, and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
· Define the product solution requirements with focus on SW/HW system integration and customer experience.
· Write detailed functional or requirement spec that enable product engineering to execute
· Define and communicate development schedules, and manage complex dependencies
· Closely work with external silicon partners to develop and track requirements and dependencies. Ensure they track our schedules.
· Drive the execution and delivery using common engineering tools, triage, tracking and reporting aligning to product milestones
· Anticipate risks; assess, mitigate, and manage accordingly
· Coordinate pre-factory SW and MTE readiness, and engaged in the volume ramp activities
· Organize and present program reviews/status to engineering, business, and senior management.
· Periodic travel to Asia to coordinate with local Surface teams and partners may be required
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years working as a technical program manager or other engineering discipline defining, driving, and shipping products or services through multiple ship cycles
Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese, with strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with one or more of the following: Batteries, fuel gauges, battery charging and discharging methodologies, power management and embedded controllers in computing platforms.
Experience with thermal management in a Windows based device. Balancing Thermal and Performance parameters and algorithms to optimize the Surface User Experience.
Strong electrical and or mechanical background with a passion for shipping products
Detailed understanding of high volume manufacturing processes and best practices to fine solution requirements
Basic understanding of both test station and DUT failure and issue root cause analysis
Been responsible responsibility for the creation of functional specifications, project schedules and building plans to deliver
Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple disciplines and functions (PM, Test, Hardware Engineers, etc.)
Ability to work well under pressure and to prioritize workloads
Demonstrated track record of leading product teams to ship
Excellent written communication and presentation skills are a must
