Overview
The Coordinator at Flagstaff Shelter Services has a responsibility tomeet the basic needs of the clients staying at the shelter. Theseobligations include the following:
Provide a safe and sanitary environment: this includes scheduledcleaning of the building as well as maintaining social distancing,wearing masks when appropriate, washing hands frequently andfollowing all covid procedures as provided by CDC.Promote fair and consistent treatment.Create a professional environment free from racism, sexualharassment, prejudice, and other offensive behavior.Establish professional only relationships with clients.Objectives
Coordinators are responsible for the following objectives:
Teamwork:By using effective communication skills, Coordinatorswill foster a positive environment for other staff members andclients.Public Interaction:Coordinators will interact with outsideresources, partners, and the public from time to time. Allinteraction with these groups will be professional, keeping the bestinterests of the shelter in mind.Service:Coordinators will provide quality service and supportiveinteraction to all clients and team members with compassion and in aprofessional manner without regard to racial, ethnic or socialprejudices.Efficiency:Workflow and upholding Standards: Coordinators willensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are followed and alldocumentation is completed.Cleanliness:Coordinators will work with clients volunteers tomaintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Covid responsibilities: Properly wear gloves and masks; Recognizesymptoms of Covid; Take temperatures of clients with symptoms;Instruct clients on proper technique for wearing masks and washinghands; properly quarantine clients who have symptoms for Covid orare high risk for contracting Covid; Practice social distancing.Ensure that all policies are followed.Complete Shift Reports.Enter Data for check-in for both HMIS (if trained in HMIS) andIn-house methods for tracking clients.Complete HMIS data quality control processes, if assignedMonitor all SOPs for the shift and delegate responsibilities toassistants as needed to ensure complianceWork closely with volunteer supervisor to help manage operationseffectivelyCommunicate with the staff from the previous shift during shiftchange and summarize events to staff responsible for the next shift.Maintain the designated client schedule.Clear understanding of HMIS and Flagstaff Shelter Policies andProcedures.Ability to make reasonable decisions.Ability to work with people in crises, including those with mentalillnesses, addictions, and criminal backgrounds without judgement.Must be able to function both independently and in a teamenvironment.Tact, discretion, and resourcefulness are required at all times.The coordinator position requires general knowledge of issues andchallenges specific to homelessness, substance abuse, minorities,and persons with disabilities.All other duties as assigned by the Shelter Manager and Director ofPrograms.Work will be performed in a cost-effective manner. Adhering tobudgetary guidelines.Attendance at all required staff meetings and trainings.Coordinators must work weekends and holidays if scheduled.Education, Experience, & Qualifications
High school education, GED or the equivalent..General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).Experi nced in data entry.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Physical Demands and Work Environment
Coordinators must be able to travel around the property and performlight lifting (25 lbs.)Work is performed in a shelter, office, and outdoor environment.Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling may be requiredwhile performing job function.Shifts may require long periods of standing and walking.There may be exposure to cleaning agents and allergens.Covid information, processes etc. Use of masks, gloves, etc.Coordinators may be subject to loud/frequent noise.Work Remotely:No
