JOB SUMMARY:
As we continue to expand our technological capabilities, we are seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Vice President of Technology to join our executive team and drive NORC’s ongoing digital transformation.
Reporting directly to the EVP, this newly created role combines the responsibilities of a Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with exceptional judgment, strong financial management, the ability to direct technology initiatives, promote a culture of operational excellence, and a track record of implementing transformative technology projects. They will oversee all aspects of our technology support organization, including data management, cloud technologies and artificial intelligence (AI).

NORC's Information Technology program provides technology services to our staff and clients. Given the critical role technology plays in our day-to-day lives, we are committed to providing professional, high-quality solutions in order to further our collective goal of advancing social science research.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technology Leadership:
Provide forward-thinking leadership for our technology initiatives, aligning them with business goals.
Execute a technology roadmap that supports our strategic plan, balancing immediate needs with long-term objectives.
Make impactful infrastructure decisions, ensuring technical excellence, versatility, safety, resiliency, and scalability in product solutions.
Strategic Planning:Develop an overarching technology strategy that fosters growth and innovation agenda. Identify emerging technologies and trends to maintain a competitive edge.
Data Management, Cloud and AI Management:Oversee the management and optimization of cloud technologies, AI solutions, and cloud-based platforms ensuring their alignment with business needs and security requirements including data engineering and data governance.
Change Leadership:Drive digital transformation by championing innovative technology projects and ensuring their successful implementation. Foster a culture that embraces continuous improvement.
Team Empowerment:Lead a high-performing technology team, providing mentorship and support that drives professional growth and productivity. Promote and enable diversity, inclusion, and belonging as a leader at NORC.
Resourceful Budget Management:Develop and manage the technology budget with a focus on cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.
Cybersecurity:Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures, protecting the company's data and assets.
Compliance and Risk Management:Ensure technology operations comply with regulations and industry standards, proactively mitigating technology-related risks in alignment with our Enterprise Risk Management Program (ERM).
Vendor and Stakeholder Management:Cultivate strong relationships with technology vendors, partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality technology services.
Performance Metrics:Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of technology operations.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree required. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus. 15 years of relevant work experience.
Proven experience as a technology leader in a similar role, ideally within a large organization.
Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to balance short-term goals and long-term vision.
Solid understanding of broad technology trends and the ability to align innovation with business goals. Ability to identify new opportunities, drive clarity, create focus, and make tough decisions in complex and dynamic contexts.
Demonstrated expertise in cloud technologies, AI, and data management.
Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and lead a diverse technology team.
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to communicate technology needs and strategy to fellow members of the executive team.
Effective organizational skills and change management expertise, with a proven track record of executing complex projects in previous roles. Commitment to a high-quality user experience.
Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
Knowledge of industry regulations and cybersecurity best practices.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The pay range for this position is $280,000 – $360,000.
This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC’s comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
