  What a Specialist, EHS contributes to Cardinal HealthEnvironmental Health & Safety manages programs to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments. This function conducts regular audits, responds to incidents and investigates root causes, and implements trainings and corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence of problems. This function also manages relationships with regulatory and community stakeholders.

  Anticipated salary range: $62,100.00-$93,135.00

  What is expected of you and others at this level:Demonstrates depth and breadth of knowledge in the area of hazard recognition, evaluation, and control.Applies working knowledge in the application of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks.Ability to maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations (NRC, DOT, EPA, OSHA, etc.)A successful candidate must be accountable and possess self-motivation.Can apply good judgment within defined parameters.Can perform efficiently under general guidance, may receive more detailed instruction on new projects.Work reviewed by manager for sound reasoning and accuracy.Ability to work with limited supervision using EHS/Radiation Safety knowledge.Responsible for being a culture champion by participating in the development, monitoring and sustainment of the culture that is an integral part of the Indianapolis manufacturing site philosophy and vision. The incumbent is responsible for embracing and demonstrating the culture of energy, passion, and a positive atmosphere.ResponsibilitiesHazard Recognition, Evaluation and Control / Regulatory Compliance (60%)Participates in the management of operation specific EHS hazard assessments and the development of risk mitigation plans.Partners with operation leaders to ensure compliance with Company and regulatory requirements.Analyzes key EHS metrics to assist operations in the construction and execution of continual improvement plans.Ensures key performance metrics, including occupational injury/illness and environmental sustainability results are accurately reported and communicated.Develops and maintains facility profiles.Assists with the response to regulatory agency inquiries and reporting obligations.Participates in assessments and audits.Partners with operation leaders to develop and execute site-specific annual EHS plans; standardize EHS programs; ensure critical information is communicated; and implement best practices.Informs the Manager, RSO/EHS when situations require follow-up actions.Provides technical assistance and guidance in risk-related matters, including ergonomics, industrial hygiene, safety, environmental, incident investigation, business resiliency and all other occupational health processes.Occupational Injury/Illness, Loss Prevention, and Crisis Management (15%)Assist management teams in the investigation, notification, and case management for occupational injury/illnesses.Assists operations with recommendations from third parties such as FM Global.Health Physics (15%)Assist with the coordination and management of all aspects of the radiation safety program.Participates and responds to investigations of radiological incidents and emergencies.Education and Mentorship (10%)Educates management teams on their EHS roles and responsibilities.Provides support and subject matter expertise for events (e.g., regulatory agency inquiries, natural disasters, business continuity, significant incidents, etc.).Helps foster a diverse workforce.Performance ExpectationsModels the characteristics outlined in the Cardinal Health Leadership Essentials- Professional and Business Support.Demonstrates a commitment to the organizations mission, vision and values supporting organizational decisions and behaviors. Takes initiative and is accountable for areas of responsibility meeting regulatory requirements including but not limited to maintaining required training as appropriate to position requirements.The ability to act calmly and patiently when working under pressure and/conditions of stress. Maintains integrity, composure, communicates with honesty, transparency, clarity and promotes alternative perspectives.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in related field preferredMinimum two years’ experience in related field preferredFamiliarity with EHS Management Systems and their successful implementationStrong knowledge of regulations and guidance promulgated by Federal and State OSHA and EPA, as well as workers’ compensation requirements.Fosters trust, confidence, and followershipDedicated to the principal of ethical behavior.Must be able to work productively on multiple initiatives simultaneously.Must have analytical and problem-solving skills, and not be afraid of rolling up the sleeves to deliver practical solutions.Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.Work EnvironmentThe primary work environment consists of a professional office, production, laboratory environment, and the entire radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The facility is operated under well-controlled and closely monitored conditions that are regulated by both State and Federal agencies, and that are enforced by the corporate internal quality and regulatory groups. Each staff member will receive specific training in keeping radiation exposures within regulatory guidelines and he/she will be routinely monitored for their exposure to radiation. Noise levels are considered low to moderate.
