  POSITION SUMMARYThe Controls Engineering Intern (paid internship) provides support to the Controls Engineering team and assists with various conveyor systems projects. Travels to job sites, both local and on-the-road within the U.S. These projects will provide the intern an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Controls Engineering. The Intern will assist in PLC programming, field commissioning, I/O and graphical checkouts. They will gain knowledge of and interact with engineering and other business professionals throughout the internship.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESSupports day-to-day operations of the Controls Engineering department developing a general understanding of all aspects of controls engineering, including policies, procedures and processes.Assist in the development of controls engineering projects for material handling systems.Travels to job sites, both local and on-the-road within the U.S. most of the time interning.Provides assistance with special projects as needed.QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTSCurrent enrollment in graduate or undergraduate degree program in an engineering related field at a recognized college or university.Local to Cincinnati (OKI area) - to build our team long term (no out-of-state applicants).Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, and planning skills.Solid verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other Matthews employees.Ability to work under direct supervision within a team in a fast-paced environment.Self-motivated with critical attention to detail.Must have current driver's license.PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENTRegularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
