　　The Alter Omnia (ALTER) group at ARA's office in Orlando, Florida is looking for dedicated, hard-working software engineers to work in the challenging area of modeling & simulation (M&S). Members of this group are regularly challenged to learn new frameworks and technologies to achieve the best solution for our customers.

　　Orlando is the unsurpassed center of innovation and development for M&S in the defense contracting industry. In 2022, Bloomberg named ARA as one of the top 200 federal industry leaders.

　　Our Alter Omnia group focuses on integrating open source and government off the shelf tools into cohesive deployable systems for our military planners and operators.

　　This includes developing data manipulation flows in open source job scheduling systems such as Argo and Jenkins to convert map data into formats ready to use by operators and analysts. These map products are often used as real-world game level environments for the latest in military training simulators written in Unreal Engine.

　　A job with ARA's Alter Omnia group means a hybrid (remote and office) work schedule within an agile team environment, working on one or more M&S projects. Projects are diverse in their technology requirements (different languages, frameworks, etc.), team size, and duration. They all center around challenging tool and algorithm development for our government and military customers and industry partners. Projects can also be collaborative efforts with other groups and divisions of ARA, giving you broad exposure to other exciting science and engineering work happening around the company.

　　Senior Software Engineer Requirements:

　　Candidates selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

　　BS (or higher) in Computer Science or a similar discipline (Computer Engineering, Physics, Math, Electrical Engineering, etc.) along with 8-10 years of relevant work experience. Note: If the degree isn’t in Computer Science, experience using and knowledge of computer science concepts must be clearly demonstrated. Equivalent professional experience (13+ years) will be considered for talented candidates without a degree

　　Ability to quickly understand existing code and enhance and build on an existing architecture

　　Strong math skills and a solid understanding of algorithm design and optimization

　　Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously as well as with large and small teams of programmers

　　Understanding of basic Docker concepts including

　　Dockerfile generation

　　Port forwarding

　　Local volume mounting

　　Docker-Compose

　　Python familiarity

　　Linux operating system familiarity

　　Senior Software Engineer Preference to applicants with one or more of the following:

　　C/C++ and/or Rust

　　Kubernetes deployment

　　Familiarity with geospatial data formats and world coordinate systems. Significant on the job training will be provided if unfamiliar with geospatial concepts/conventions.

　　Understanding of basic networking for multi-service applications

　　Experience with network communications, especially REST
