Position Summary
This position exists to support the Director of Administration and Finance ( DAF ) with managing the grant activities of the respective academic units. This is an advanced level position, and the work demands high-quality performance on assigned projects with minimal oversight by the DAF . The individual will collaborate with personnel to coordinate all the sponsored project-related functions, providing key management and coordination of “cradle to grave” grant activities for the grouping. The individual must possess the ability to apply an understanding of financial and grants management principles and practices during proposal development, financial management of awarded projects, and strategic planning to support faculty’s research objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Experience: Five(5) years of related work experience

Job Duties
Description of Job Duty
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Serves as the initial point of contact to coordinate the grant submission process for the grouping; critically evaluates proposal solicitations to identify proposal components and compliance requirements; establishes deadlines to ensure compliance with the Office of Sponsored Programs ( OSP ) policies and procedures for proposal submissions. Communicates policies and procedures to internal external customers and works collaboratively with faculty, research staff and the Office of Sponsored Programs to facilitate the proposal approval and submission process.
Researches and identifies potential sources of funding from diverse funders, particularly from private sources to support faculty’s research activities; analyzes requests for proposals (RFPs) to determine programmatic, compliance and operational requirements to submit competitive grant applications; summarizes opportunities and make recommendations for decision makers, considering alignment, potential development strategies, challenges and resources needed for successful proposal development and implementation.
Provides technical assistance and guidance in the development, preparation and submission of proposals, contracts, and a wide range of “complex” grants and contracts; works with faculty to ensure grant applications comply with institution and sponsors’ policies and guidelines. Will work faculty and staff at collaborating institutions to facilitate grant submissions that include subcontracting entities.
Assists with developing budgets and justifications that align with the needs of the projects and complies with federal regulations; initiates electronic applications in different web-based proposal submission portals and uploads relevant documents to complete grant applications.
Reviews grant applications to ensure information is accurate, complete, and complies with sponsor’s and federal regulations; validates the grant information before releasing to OSP to submit the sponsoring agencies.
Works with the Office of Sponsored Programs to negotiate the terms and conditions of sponsored awards and contracts; consults with the Office of General Counsels as needed on complex contracts and agreements.
Establishes and maintains a system for compiling and tracking data on grant submissions; submits quarterly reports to unit heads to keep them abreast of their sponsored research portfolio.
Serves as contact person for numerous web-based electronic proposal submission portals; interface with the Office of Sponsored Research Administration ( OSRA ) IRB , IACUC , CLAR , and Office of Technology Development ( OTD ) on industry-sponsored research agreements and Office of Sponsored Programs ( OSP ) to ensure compliance with institution and sponsor regulations and research protocols (animal, biohazard, export controls, and human subjects).
Establishes and maintains a “shared” filing system to provide easy access to relevant project information to assist in making financial decisions on sponsored activities.
Works on special project as assigned.

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
