Position Overview:The DMT Optical Engineering department supports the design, analysis, fabrication, metrology, optical alignment, and optical testing of airborne and space-based optical systems, sub-systems, and components. The available position is for a mid-career candidate with relevant optics (and/or aerospace) industry experience. You will be expected to be able work independently, and will be required to collaborate across multiple Engineering disciplines. As a lead designer / analyst, you will work with standard optical design and analysis software to solve challenging problems.

　　Responsibilities:In this position, you will be responsible for:* Performing moderate and complex optical design and analysis tasks* Communicating with multiple disciplines (systems, mechanical, structural, other optical engineers, and program management) to explain design details and receive requirements and constraints on analysis* Participating in formal design reviews as the lead optical designer / analyst for a program* Documenting design and analysis work sufficiently to allow for peer review and multi-discipline transfer of information* Being able to work in a flexible environment of uncertain requirements and constraints to help guide others to ideal solutions
