  Job Description

  Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

  As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

  Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

  Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.

  Responsibilities

  Job Responsibilities:

  As a Senior Member of Technical Staff you will own the software design and development for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure. You should be both a rock-solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

  Candidate Profile:

  • 4+ years’ experience designing, developing and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems.

  • Strong knowledge of Java, Go Lang, C/C++, and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals, and cloud-native development. • Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus.

  • Working familiarity with operating systems internals, networking and standard network architectures.

  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

  Top 3 skill sets / technologies in the ideal candidate:

  Software Engineering experience with distributed systems within large-scale environments

  4+ years’ experience working on challenging issues with a self-starter / self-motivated attitude

  Virtualization experience would be a huge plus

  Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile development environment

  Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the United States only

  Hiring Range: from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

  Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

  Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  11 paid holidays

  Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
