Job Summary:
At Caterpillar’s Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble Large Mining and Construction equipment. In this role as a Senior Manager Quality, you will report to the Facility Manager and will be primarily responsible for analyzing customer requirements, defines specifications for products and services, and develops quality control processes to review and ensure compliance with quality standards. As a member of the Quality team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:
Developing, implementing, monitoring, and optimizing quality assurance processes to ensure final products and services are compliant with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Gathering and understanding client requirements, defining product or service specifications, and ensuring that their expectations are met to ensure high customer satisfaction rates.
Recruiting, developing, and leading staff to accomplish personal and organizational goals, adhere to policies/procedures and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Manage process to achieve compliance for internal quality audits and coordinate external on-site audits; analyzing all product development and manufacturing procedures to identify deviations from quality standards and recommend and implement corrective actions.
What skills you will have:
Planning : Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Level Expert:
• Reviews and consults on the final strategic plan in collaboration with the business units.
• Monitors industry for innovations in planning processes.
• Directs the development, maintenance, and communication of own function's strategic plan.
• Contributes to the overall strategic business goals and plans of the organization.
• Creates and implements a strategy for supporting current and future business needs.
• Develops long-term strategies to deliver services that keep pace with technology trends.
Quality Management : Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Level Expert:
• Raises awareness of the impact of quality management on the bottom line.
• Works with organization's executives to establish appropriate approach to quality management.
• Directs development of quality guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Assesses industry and marketplace for quality management best practices and tools.
• Consults on quality metrics, practices, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Monitors organization and industry experience, and identifies improvement opportunities.
Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Level Expert:
• Gains agreement on the problem-solving process, risk assessment, decision points, and criteria.
• Trains others in the process of eliciting alternatives and assessing their impact.
• Orchestrates the resolution of high-impact and cross-functional problems.
• Successfully organizes problem solvers and stakeholders for high-impact problems.
• Predicts and explains long-term trends and implications for alternatives.
• Monitors industry for best practices and new techniques in problem-solving.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies : Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Consults on development and implementation of cross-functional standards.
• Participates in the development of organizational policies and practices.
• Develops and uses control and monitoring mechanisms for adherence.
• Collaborates with other functions on establishing and documenting joint standards.
• Participates in defining architectural principles and standards for organization.
• Ensures communication vehicles are effectively informing affected areas and employees.
Education and Experience requirement:
Bachelor’s degree
15+ years of Manufacturing, Quality experience

The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL
