With hands-on experience in Solid/liquid filtration, membrane separation, and drying technologies with Chromatography as optional, you’ll be at the forefront of

optimizing processing parameters, analyzing data, and upholding the highest standards of hygiene and efficacy. As a Bioprocessing expert you will join the Enzyme House Process and Formulation development team within dsm-firmenich’s Taste, Texture Health (TTH) Business Unit. TTH brings progress to life by creating what is essential for life, desirable for consumers and more sustainable for the planet. TTH’s Division Ingredient Solutions is a leading global supplier of food enzymes, cultures, taste and health ingredients and other specialties for many of the leading global and local dairy, baking, beverages, and savory food brands. The Center for Food Innovation (CFI) is the dedicated center for Research Development (RD) for TTH and is responsible for the development of food ingredients, cost-effective production processes and solutions for our customers.

*Key Responsibilities  *

Hands-on Process Development and Scale-Up: Execute the transfer of bio-active food ingredient processes and formulations from the lab or pilot scale to full-scale production, ensuring all processes are optimized for consistency, quality, and efficiency.

Troubleshoot and Optimize Manufacturing Processes: Work closely with Operations teams to identify and resolve any technical issues that may arise during the scale-up or production process, ensuring smooth transfers and minimizing downtime.

Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product management, supply chain, and operations teams to align product specifications, production methods, and commercial goals.

Data driven and Technical Reporting: Be data savvy and maintain accurate documentation of technical transfer processes, including formulations, production protocols, and sample analytical results, to ensure traceability and support product compliance.

Train and Support Production Teams: Provide training to production staff on new processes, ingredients, and equipment, ensuring all personnel are proficient in handling new processes and ingredients.

Scale Experiments: Plan and conduct laboratory-scale experiments based on technical hypotheses, analyze the collected data, and produce comprehensive reports to support decision-making in the technical transfer process or aid product development by replicating food-grade product samples for customers.

* * *You Bring  *

You hold a Bachelor or Master's degree in Food technology, (Bio)-Chemical Engineering, Process engineering, or a related field.

10-15 years of experience in downstream bioprocessing, with focus on technical transfer, and working with production teams to bring products from lab-scale to industrial-scale production.

Strong knowledge of food ingredient processing technologies, including methods for scaling up production and hands-on experience with laboratory-scale experimentation, formulation development, and process optimization.

Proficiency in using data analysis and simulation tools (e.g., Excel, Statistical Process Control software, ERP systems, etc.).

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production challenges, Analyze data from lab experiments and production trials, and make data-driven recommendations for process improvements.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects/ shifting timelines simultaneously. Adaptability to changing environments and priorities, especially when scaling up from laboratory to industrial scale.

Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, as this role often requires close collaboration with diverse teams across the organization and external partners.

Given the international nature of the work, willingness for frequent travel to production site(s) with English proficiency as crucial and French is an advantage.
