Job Description:
The Senior Engineer Process Development position is a key role within the One M&M'S R&D organization. This position will be responsible for development, qualification, commercialization, and start-up of new and improved products, assets, and processes for the M&M'S Ecosystem across existing and new innovation horizons. This role will be part of a cross functional team of packaging, product, and process engineering that will collectively deliver innovations for the global M&M'S ecosystem.
This associate will be responsible for process and asset development activities and is accountable for the execution of the allocated projects within the M&M'S Innovation Team. This position requires the knowhow to manage multiple projects, solve complex problems, and build strong networks to drive the growth agenda. They work both independently and with guidance to deliver relevant innovation and will work effectively with cross functional teams to drive projects to execution.
What are we looking for?
Minimum Requirements
B.S.degreeinengineering, food science or a related technical science
5 years' technical experience with confidence working on development and launch of new product, packaging, and processes in a relevant field. Experience of leading the development, installation, and start-up of new processes or assets
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams
Experience working with outside vendors and internal and external facilities to deliver project requirements
Experience collaborating with product development in the transition of new products from lab to pilot plant and from pilot plant to scale production
Demonstrated learning agility, problem solving skills and project management skills
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
Preferred Requirements
8 years' technical experience with confidence working on development and launch of new product, packaging, and processes in a relevant field. Relevant R&D experience in ink or food industry is preferred
Experience in mechanical or electromechanical engineering, CAD, and/or prototyping mechanical assemblies is preferred
What will be your key responsibilities?
Be the single process engineering point of contact on assigned project, as part of a cross functional team, in the development and launch of new confectionery products and/or new technology assets. Deliver projects on time and within budget. Become a technical expert as needed
Initiate and lead test plan development, test execution, and data analysis to quantify key equipment parameters and fundamental mechanisms at prototype, Pilot Plant, and factory scales
Identify and evaluate innovative processing options based on product attributes for confectionery products, including evaluation based on technical and economic feasibility
Initiates and coordinates: Trials, Commissioning, Validation, and Start-up for new products and new assets
Provide engineering leadership and validation expertise to enable the delivery of product performance targets and attributes for confectionery products
Deliver scalable process specifications for technology platforms collaboratively developed with Product Development, Technology, and Supply Chain to achieve exceptional product attribute targets and ensure superior product quality and food safety
Delivery of IP for technical insulation of new technologies
Remains abreast of new developments in relevant technologies, packaging, design, category trends, and related fields, assessing how these developments may translate into innovations aligned with our strategy
Collaborates with cross functional teams including Legal, Commercial, Quality & Food Safety, Product Development, Supply, and Digital Technologies to both deliver innovations and solve business issues
Connects with peers in other regions and other R&D functions (Science & Technology, Factory Innovation, Product Development, Packaging) to identify new opportunities, share best practices, and accelerate the global deployment of new innovations
Builds relationships with key external suppliers to enable innovations
Mentors more junior engineers and scientists
