Position Description:
The successful candidate is a subject-matter expert (SME) who will perform cradle-to-grave launch vehicle-centric hardware engineering. This entails being a part of the hardware development for multiple technical baselines and the associated operations planning, design engineering, ground support development, analysis, testing, integration, and launch/retrofit operations planning.
Responsibilities Include:
Based on specific objectives, perform analysis, electrical design engineering, and/or test of complex designs.Perform comprehensive review of internal, external and range requirements to support launch vehicle system level design and vehicle subsystem designPerform detailed analyses to support/verify designs and conduct briefings to management and customersLead development, coordination, and execution of test programs required to evaluate the designOversee component supplier design, analysis, manufacture, and testLead troubleshooting efforts and comprehensive failure investigationsMentor other engineers from a technical standpoint as well as perform senior peer reviewCollaborate early and often with other engineering disciplines and operations/manufacturing groupsDefines technical solutions, prepares and presents electrical engineering materials for Requirements and Design Reviews; briefs senior leadersStudies basic design concepts and criteria for more complex problemsApplies electrical engineering principles to adapt or improve upon heritage features from previous successful designs of a similar naturePerform qualification testing, characterization testing, troubleshooting, and test data review of completed designsPerform data analysis to identify trends that may indicate out of tolerance or degraded part performancePerform testing to characterize off-nominal behavior of componentsProvides inputs into bill of materials (BOMs) and evaluates commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) parts for complianceActively and effectively participates and contributes in a positive manner while supporting team decisions and goalsSeeks new sources of information and provides information necessary to meet customer needsDisciplined with escalation when requiredDerives requirements through multiple sources of documentation and design meetingsEvaluate uncertainty and risks associated with requirements and designsParticipate in impact assessments for both internal projects and procured equipmentAct with safety as your number one priority through every aspect of the roleProvides formal peer review of engineering designs or analyses for team membersEducation Requirements:Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
Experience Requirements:
14+ years with Bachelor's degree; 12+ years with Master's degreePrior experience with the design, test, and/or integration and deployment of electrical components, electrical ground support equipment (EGSE), or subsystemsExpert level understanding and application of company electrical engineering technical standardsProven results leading electrical component design solutions from cradle-to-graveBroad technical expertise and extensive working knowledge of other related disciplinesSME level experience completing impact assessments, proven experience developing and delivering senior level briefings include milestone review packagesProblem solving not only for technical issues, but also for schedule, cost, resource and other project challengesExperience mentoring and cross-training team members across a diverse set of technologies and electrical system architectures used to meet customer requirementsExperience with classified test systems or syste s subject to cyber security policies and risk management framework (RMF)Must be able to meet GWS Firewall requirementsAbility to travel at least 10%Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment full timeSpecial Skills Desired:
