The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) manages state parks and oversees more than 450,000 acres throughout Massachusetts. The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is seeking a Senior Director of Strategic Readiness Initiatives to lead and support ongoing priority projects throughout the agency. Reporting to the Director of Administration and Finance, the Senior Director of Strategic Readiness Initiatives will lead and support ongoing priority projects throughout the agency in collaboration and partnership with the senior leadership team. The Senior Director has oversight of high-priority, inter-agency, and cross-secretariat projects, is responsible for developing and implementing innovative solutions to achieve the agency's full range of priorities, with a special focus on implementing the recommendations and goals laid out in the Strategic Readiness Roadmap. The Senior Director of Strategic Readiness Initiatives assists the Commissioner in the coordination and monitoring of the conservation, recreation and policymaking and implementation of activities for the Department, its Bureaus, and Divisions through data collection, analysis, and management. Focus will be on helping ensure the efficient, impactful, and inclusive delivery of services to the residents of the Commonwealth, drive impact for the agency’s resource and the environment. Manage cross-functional teams focused on addressing key operational challenges and opportunities for efficiencies and technology-based solutions. Lead efforts to implement the goals and recommendations of the Strategic Readiness Initiative roadmap. Engage stakeholders in relevant policy challenges, help define strategy and advise senior staff on effective approaches to address these policy challenges. Formulate and implement frameworks and roadmaps to bring specific projects to fruition. Engage cross-functional teams and strategically engage relevant leadership to achieve agency-wide goals Analyze data and information provided by subject matter experts with the goal of improving and streamlining operational processes. Work with existing or to-be-determined DCR project management staff to ensure that project milestones are met. Think creatively about problems raised by elected officials, the public, senior management teams, to seek ways to use existing or new tools to solve. Direct reporting responsibilities to build various platforms including a constituent services dashboard. Work with EEA to support and expand Alerts MA for DCR. Promotes a strong and collaborative team culture Other duties as assigned Preferred Qualitificatons: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business, Economics, Finance, Political Science, Public Policy, Urban Planning, or related field A master’s degree in business administration, public administration, urban planning or related field a plus. 5 years of experience leading large, cross-functional initiatives, projects, and teams. Two (2) years of experience in governmental affairs or a related field Two (2) years Management and Operations experience Excellent communication skills. Bi-lingual Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Portuguese, Khmer, Vietnamese preferred. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) six (6) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least two (2) years must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience. II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience. III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience. IV.
