Job Description:
The Senior Director of Advancement Communications and Marketing (Senior Director) reports directly to the Vice President of University Communications and Marketing, and plans, directs and ensures the successful execution of communications and marketing strategies to support the goals of University Advancement. Led by the Vice President of University Advancement/President & CEO of the Ohio University Foundation (VP/ CEO ), the Division of Advancement works to engage alumni through the Ohio University Alumni Association and raise funds to support students and University programs through the Ohio University Foundation. The Senior Director also works closely with and has a dotted line to the Vice President of University Advancement.
This role will collaborate with leaders across University Advancement, including directors and assistant vice presidents in Annual Giving, Major Giving, Planned Giving, Donor Relations, Alumni Relations, and Advancement Events to develop effective marketing and communications strategies and materials to support goals across the Division. The Senior Director will ensure that the Advancement brand identity and marketing execution is consistent with the OHIO brand, will coordinate closely with the Senior Director of Academic Communications and Marketing to ensure alignment between Advancement goals and Academic goals, and will establish and report on key performance indicators in communication efforts with alumni, donors and prospects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business/Communications/Marketing/Journalism/English or related
6+ years of of relevant experience
1+ years of management and/or leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Communications and marketing experience in higher education or a nonprofit environment
Experience leading communications and branding efforts for a comprehensive fundraising campaign
Strength in copy writing for a variety of mediums, both long and short form
Extensive knowledge of the full scope of integrated marketing and communications tactics including media relations, social media strategy, paid digital media, brand copy writing, content marketing, web content and user experience, email and direct marketing and more with a focus on how those tactics can be applied to effective external relations and fundraising

Advertised Salary:
The salary range for pay grade 20 is $80,593 to $138,208. The salary negotiated at the time of offer will be commensurate with education and experience while also considering internal equity.
