What you'll do
The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for providing our stakeholders the ability to quickly understand data and make well informed decisions while providing a suite of self-serve tools, reporting, and capabilities to answer any business question. They will be a champion of automation by building processes that ensure timely information and data accessibility. Supporting the Sport Chek banner, the ideal candidate will be highly skilled in all aspects of data analytics, including data mining, transformation, and visualization so that they may help drive innovation, growth, and ultimately help us achieve our strategic vision.
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
Provide the business with a full analytical service offering. This includes developing operational reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and data driven insights.
Develop new tools and capabilities to drive inventory optimization and profitability, leveraging statical models where possible.
Champion the Data Science resources of the organization to improve forecasting and predictive analysis.
Support the development of data pipelines and data marts to support the analytical process.
Be relied upon as an expert of the full merchandising process and associated data to help drive progress in the pursuit of our financial plans.
Use modelling techniques to identify and quantify sales drivers, conduct what-if scenario analysis, and measure causal impacts.
What you bring
B.S. degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
5+ years work experience in an analytics-based environment.
Excellent communication and oral presentation skills.
Ability to formulate or quickly understand business problems, find patterns and insights within structured and unstructured data.
Advanced knowledge in Excel & PowerBI including an understanding of DAX expressions.
Working knowledge of SQL for data manipulation and integration.
Working knowledge of Python or other coding languages considered an asset.
Working experience with Azure Synapse or the Microsoft cloud ecosystem is considered an asset.
Experience with Alteryx, Knime and/or other data manipulation and visualization software considered an asset.
Creative problem solver who has the ability to work independently and in an ambiguous environment.
Proactive and action oriented, willing to work with stakeholders to isolate problems and help develop solutions.
Team player with a willingness to listen, collaborate, and work in a group setting to solve challenging problems.
Value progress over perfection, using a growth mindset to continuously aim to help grow the business.
