JOB REQUIREMENTS: Librarian Is and IIs help open a world of materials,services, and programs to patrons and serve as liaisons to communitypartners. LIBRARIAN I:Librarian Is perform basic bibliographic,reference, readers\' advisory, and programming work and participate in afull range of librarian activities, including community service,outreach, and basic collection development. Emphasis is on developing acomprehensive background in all phases of librarianship throughout thesystem and includes children\'s, young adult, and/or adult services.LIBRARIAN II:Librarian IIs perform some of the same functions as aLibrarian I and assume higher level responsibilities, such as assistingin training and supervising Librarians Is and other employees anddeveloping ways to extend the services of the MPL to the community. TheMPL\'s promotional program provides qualified individuals withopportunities to continue their development by assuming higher levelresponsibilities commensurate with their abilities and the needs of thesystem. This position will be filled at the level ofLibrarian I(PR 2DN)orLibrarian II(PR 2EN), depending upon the qualifications of thecandidate and the needs of MPL. Eligible candidates who successfullycomplete the selection process will be placed on the highest-leveleligible list for which they qualify. The eligible lists resulting fromthis selection process may be used to fill similar City of Milwaukeepositions. Master\'s degree in library and informationstudies or equivalent from an American Library Association(ALA)-accredited program.
