Summary:
This position performs general maintenance tasks as a member of the Physical Plant, in the areas of carpentry, flooring, general construction, locksmithing, painting, and preventative maintenance to maintain and preserve the appearance and integrity of the facility for safe and efficient operation of the facility. Work assignments are frequently performed outside in all types of weather. Ability to work in other trade areas and operate equipment is desired. The HSC physical plant is committed to providing the highest standard of service for fellow staff members, patients, and visitors.
Working hours for this position are primarily Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm but may vary according to needs of the facility.
Licenses and Certifications:
Experience preferred. Successful candidate must possess valid driver's license.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:Knowledge of:
methods and practices of general building or facility maintenance and repair;paint application;building construction, tools, and equipment associated with the tasks of this position;occupational hazards and standard safety precautions.Ability to:
keep records and reports;communicate information clearly and concisely;follow oral and written instructions;deal tactfully with others;complete delegated tasks;lift 50 pounds or more;operate required tools and equipment;work from ladders, scaffolding, and in confined areas;assist in other trade areas as necessary.This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
