　　Team Description

　　The Search and Recommendation Data Science team is on a multiple year journey to reimagine the experience for the car shopping marketplace (shoppers and dealers) starting with a strong understanding of the customers needs and building an iconic experience that is engaging and meaningful. All of that begins with a deep understanding of user search query, past interactions and products in our catalog which we can use to find relevant search and recommendation results. You will have the chance to leverage your knowledge and experience from Information Retrieval, Deep Learning, Natual Language Processing, Large Language Models, Ranking, and Recommender Systems and work with high caliber, cross functional teams consisting of Product Managers, Engineers, Analysts and User Researchers to build large-scale, real-time distributed machine learning systems that power the Search and Recommendation experience for a truly iconic personalized experience.

　　Role Description

　　In this role you will:

　　Work backwards from user needs to build and productionalize the underlying algorithms for our large-scale Search and Recommendation system that drive massive user and business metrics improvement

　　Conduct cutting-edge, value-driven research to explore the frontier of the Search and Recommendation

　　Work cross functionally with a high caliber team consists of product managers, engineers, and user researchers to ship new AI-powered features into production

　　Regularly communicate and influence stakeholders with a diverse background

　　The Ideal Candidate is:

　　Innovative. You continually research and evaluate emerging technologies. You stay current on published state-of-the-art methods, technologies, and applications and seek out opportunities to apply them.

　　Technical. You’re comfortable with open-source languages and are passionate about developing further. You have hands-on experience developing data science solutions using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms.

　　Statistically-minded. You’ve built models, validated them, and backtested them. You know how to interpret a confusion matrix or a ROC curve. You have theoretical and practical experience with Information Retrieval, Recommender System, Search Ranking, Large-scale, Real-time machine learning systems.

　　Basic Qualifications:

　　Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years of experience in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining Master’s Degree, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining PhD, with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date

　　At least 1 year of experience in open source programming languages for large scale data analysis

　　At least 1 year of experience with machine learning

　　At least 1 year of experience with relational databases

　　Preferred Qualifications:

　　Master’s Degree in “STEM” field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) or PhD in “STEM” field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)

　　At least 1 year of experience working with AWS

　　At least 1 year of experience building large scale, real-time Search and Recommendation algorithms

　　At least 1 year of experience in Python, Scala, or R
