Class Summary
This position will lead the Stormwater Section in the Engineering and Construction Division for Gwinnett County and is responsible for project, technical, and construction management of various stormwater projects. This person will manage over 10 Engineers ensuring stormwater projects are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will show progressively responsible leadership in managing stormwater groups and projects. The position requires diverse experience in the planning, design, and construction of stormwater management facilities (culverts and pipe systems), watershed improvement projects (Best Management Practices including Low Impact Development and Green Infrastructure), stream restoration/rehabilitation projects, and dam maintenance projects.
The position requires a working knowledge of the following:
Project management and technical guidance for stormwater projects including defining project budget, performing data analysis, and managing engineering and consultant contracts.
Coordinating the request for proposals process to include developing bid packages outlining project scope, requirements, and specification, evaluating vendors, and making final recommendations.
Methods, practices, and procedures used in the planning, design, and construction of stormwater projects
Stormwater hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
Construction cost estimating for stormwater projects
Reading and understanding engineering plans
Preparing and reviewing project designs
Construction Management
Prioritizing and assigning work
Supervising and evaluating employees
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, management, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
The grade for this position is 108.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field;
Eight years of progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment, including two years of experience as a manager;
Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above;
Valid driver's license in state of residency;
Professional Engineer License (preferred)
